Motivation would not be enough for startup entrepreneurs

An entrepreneur's challenge at startup can be very tiring and discouraging, because that early stage of entrepreneurship is often very demanding and less rewarding. There is always a wide gap between the efforts and resources invested on one hand and the reward gained on the other. The situation of things at this early stage of entrepreneurship, leaves entrepreneurs burning resources unproductively and thinking of closing business eventually.

What is missing

People with different kinds of mindset and background walk into the pipeline every now and then. But not everyone of them fits well enough to join the team.

Many of those who have made it into our recruitment pipeline did not make it through into our team.

Most of the reasons were traced down either to the work culture we ran in The Newsghost or the work skill that these people had.

Our thirst and long wait for revenue

Not trying to sound money-hungry, but we have waited really, really long for revenue to start flowing in. While there is no specific timeline for a business to start making money, no business can go on for too long without a meaningful revenue flow.

Creation and day-to-day operations of business gulp in money, in some cases these will mean lots of money. Little or huge, the money piles up to bigger money over time and, sooner or later, the money available to spend runs out. You are unable to recover the money spent on the business, and we cannot even talk about profit yet.

Remote as it gets, we love it

Our team members have to work from wherever they are. Because of the nature of what we do and the tools available to us, we figured that remote work is the best we can get and we do not ever regret this. But there are also challenges tied around this style of work.

First - and mightiest of all the challenges that come with remote work is communication. Our entire team has to collaborate on work from a distance, anyhow that is going to be possible. We even have to hire from a distance, we interview candidates applying to join our team and take them in to work with us without any physical meeting.
