What is missing
People with different kinds of mindset and background walk into the pipeline every now and then. But not everyone of them fits well enough to join the team.
Many of those who have made it into our recruitment pipeline did not make it through into our team.
Most of the reasons were traced down either to the work culture we ran in The Newsghost or the work skill that these people had.
Work culture

We have had to translate this into every aspect of our operations - from how we organise and reward our team, to how we provide work resources, how we reach our target audience, and how we plan our development and expansion and all.
And the truth is that most of the people who wanted to join our team did not join us in the end just because they would not accept how we reward our team. Some would accept and later reject it
It just made one thing clearer. We needed only people who could fit into the reality of our current work culture by all means. People who were ready to be part of our team and accept our profit-sharing-based reward plan.
Work skill
It would be surprising to hear that more than half of those who would not accept how we reward our team even did not have the work skill needed to join us.
Because our recruitment policy is quite friendly to people who have little work skill and strong interest in being part of our work, we had given some of these people the chance to join us. But just a little into our interview session with them, they rejected our reward plan.
Priorities matter for both sides I guess.
It would not have to be an expert, but there would have to be strong passion. It must also be someone with the ability to accept how we reward our team - if we could say that is a skill too.
We know that development is inevitable, we all grow to learn more and more and become experts. Experts are not made at birth, they are products of long years of experience and learning - and unlearning, if need be.
We give a chance to people who do not really have the work skill needed to join our team but have strong interest enough to win a place on the team, then we support them with learning and development resources to help them get to a good start and become better.
